What term comes to mind first when you think back to the perspEktIve M mentoring program?
Exchange. My mentor and I always had very dynamic sessions in which we both shared a lot. This allowed me not only to learn a lot of interesting things, but also to reflect on my own experiences.
What was your motivation to participate in the program?
To get a more concrete idea of my own PhD plans as well as regarding the general criteria of doing a PhD.
Can you recall a particular moment in your studies when you thought about whether doctoral studies would be an option for you?
Actually, there was a moment in my second semester that had a major impact on the rest of my studies and career planning. I was sitting in Professor Jungblut’s lectur on „Microtheory“ on a Friday afternoon. Before, I always thought I would go in the direction of marketing/management. But as I sat in that very lecture, I thought to myself: „This is exactly what I want to do all my life. This is exactly the kind of professor I want to be.“
What were the highlights of the program for you?
The informal exchange with my mentor. perspEktIve M not only helped me with my further career planning, I also always found the conversations with my mentor very enriching.
How has your view of science changed?
I wouldn’t say that my view of science has changed in general. Rather, I was able to expand my knowledge and I was able to deepen in some areas.
Would you recommend the program to others?
Absolutely. It’s a great way to pause for a moment in your studies and reflect on what you want in life and how to get there.
What’s next?
Right now, I’m aiming to finish my Master’s degree in International Economics and Management. After that, I would probably like to gain some work experience outside academia before dedicating myself to my PhD.
