This book (in German) is published <strong>Open Access<\/strong> in the series\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.narr.de\/linguistik\/reihen\/literacy-im-elementar-und-primarbereich-liep\/\">Literacy in Elementary and Primary Education (LiEP)<\/a><\/em>\u00a0by Narr Francke Attempto Verlag. While the central focus of this monograph is on the<strong> role of varying contextual conditions on preschool children&#8217;s long-term word learning<\/strong>, the presented investigation also employed social robots as an innovative methodological tool to compare learning outcomes when children engage with human versus artificial (robotic) interaction partners. Co-authored with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-paderborn.de\/person\/59284\">Franziska Viertel<\/a>, this chapter will appear in the edited volume&nbsp;<em>Contemporary Issues in Early Childhood Education and Care<\/em>. The chapter provides a comprehensive review of current research on how shyness influences children&#8217;s communicative behavior in testing and socially evaluative contexts.
